I am now back home and back to training. Friday afternoon I decided to make the trek out the UBC to meet the group (which is increasing in size) for a track session. This was just what I needed to do to get right back to the swing of things and transition from Hawaii back to reality out here.
The workout was 20x 400 meters off a minute jog. This was going to be a long one, with the 200 meter jog between intervals we ran around the track continuously 29.5 times. I felt great and just sat in the back of the main group and hit between 67-69 seconds. With warm-up and cool down we were done just under 2 hours from when we started.
This week will be my down week, and with two days off this week I should be well rested to ramp it up over the next 4 weeks, but not too much as the goal is to run fast 10km’s this spring and then get into marathon training later for the Fall.
I will meet Dylan and Trevor for an easy 10 miles at Mundy park Saturday and then head down to Stanley park Sunday for a long run. It is shaping up to include a good portion of our training group so it should be a good run; hopefully the weather will hold like it has the past two days.
